Abstract |
The Eastern Townships-born author began his journalism career while a student at Bishop's University in the late 1950s. Over the next fifty years, starting at the Sherbrooke Record and moving on to the Toronto Globe and Mail, he covered local and national affairs, then as the paper's foreign correspondent in China and London. He served as editor-in-chief of the Globe and Mail from 1983 to 1989, and the Montreal Gazette from 1989 to 1993.
