Théâtre à Montréal, 1825-1930 : un récit visuel mettant en scène des documents patrimoniaux

Abstract |
The author dfescribes a research and communication project on the cultural, social and commercial history of about 40 theatre spaces in Montreal that were active between 1825 and 1930. The project was developed in partnership with UQAM’s Laboratoire d’histoire et de patrimoine de Montréal. Delving into both the published documentary heritage and the archival documents held by Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec, the author notes that the project has generated two complementary communication projects. A collection was created in Spring 2017, first in Historypin, and then as 200 images and brief texts in a structured format on Story Maps, another Web platform. The author comments on the scope of the project, its methodology, and its documentary implications. She also compares the respective strengths of both of the platforms that have been used.
