Abstract
The Montreal-born painter A.Y. Jackson (1882-1974) was a founding member of both the Montreal-based Beaver Hall Group and the Toronto-based Group of Seven. The author recounts the summer of 1925 that A.Y. Jackson spent painting on the north shore of the St. Lawrence along with fellow Group of Seven painter and future Art Association of Montreal teacher Arthur Lismer (1885-1969) and ethnographer and folklorist Marius Barbeau (1883-1969). The author includes over sixty drawings and paintings done by her paternal uncle on the trip, as well as a few by his friend Arthur Lismer.
