| Abstract |
Focuses on three Italian-Canadian newspapers: Montreal's L'Italia, Toronto's Il Bollettino italo-canadese and Vancouver's L'Eco italo-canadese. The weekly newspaper L'Italia was founded in 1916 to inspire and support patriotic fervour during the First World War among Italians living in Montreal, then the largest Italian community in Canada. In the 1930s, the paper became a fascist-supporting organ. In 1937 it changed its name to L'Italia nuova and ended publication in June 1940, when fascist Italy declared war against the Allies.
