The Beginnings of Canadian Modernism
|
Abstract |
The author points out that the "programmatic introduction" of Modernism into Canadian poetry, as well as the first of the "little magazines" in Canada, began in 1925 with the printing of The McGill Fortnightly Review. The two prime movers behind the magazine, which continued publication until 1927, were A.J.M. Smith and Frank R. Scott, graduate students then attending McGill University.
