Abstract |
An examination of the evolution of English-Canadian poetry from the pre-war Depression, to the Second World War, to the post-war disillusionment and the beginning of a time of affluence and intellectual expansion. The author examines the English-speaking poets of these eras, including such Montreal poets as F.R. Scott, A.M. Klein, Leo Kennedy, Patrick Anderson, Dorothy Livesay, P.K. Page, Irving Layton, Leonard Cohen, and Louis Dudek.
