Abstract
A study of nineteenth century Eastern Township poets Angus MacKay (1864-1923), who published under the pseudonym “Oscar Dhu,” and Finlay McRitchie (1841-1923). The author, a grand-nephew of Angus MacKay, writes about the Gaelic-speaking Scottish community in the Townships, and the life and poems of MacKay and McRitchie. Their prose celebrated the lives, events, marriages, death and politics of their fellow Scotsmen in Compton County.
