Title
Self-Perception of Montreal Anglophones in Relation to Francophones: A Pre-Test, 1989
Abstract
The author and four graduate students surveyed Anglophone Montrealers in 1989 about their self-perceptions in relation to Francophone Quebecers. The survey concluded that the Anglophone Montreal community is “more in pain than in anger” over recent political events (specifically the passage of Bill 178 banning the use of bilingual outdoor public signs), but possesses cautious hope for the future.
