Abstract
In November 1885, the Protestant Committee of the Council of Public Instruction for Quebec recommended the establishment of a Central Board of Examiners, “composed of men of the requisite knowledge and skill for conducting the examinations,” to certify teachers for Protestant schools in the province. This central board replaced the seventeen local boards charged with certification of teachers. The Protestant Central Board of Examiners existed until 1970.
