Abstract |
Using vessel registration certificates, the author examines shipbuilding in the Quebec City area and the St. Lawrence Valley between 1760 and 1825, and how earlier historian over-estimated the number of ships being built. During this period, Scottish-born businessmen ( Munn, Beatson, Black and King) dominated the ship-building industry in the region.
