Intégration civique sans acculturation. Les Grecs à Montréal

Abstract |
Using as her subject the integration of Greek immigrants in Montreal, the author introduces the idea of "civic integration", one distinct from that of political integration. She argues that contrary to the traditional conception, integration of immigrants into another society is not necessarily linear; civic integration can precede the completion of cultural integration. In addition, she maintains, it can slow the process of acculturation of immigrants into the host society by favoring the preservation of the original ethnic cultures.
