Abstract |
The Eastern Townships-born artist and university teacher Orson Shorey Wheeler (1902-1990) was a noted sculptor who taught at Sir George William's University and its successor institution, Concordia University, from 1931 to 1986. He is best known for his bronze busts of noted Canadians. He also created scale models of over 200 architectural buildings from around the world in Roma Plastilina (plasticine). From 1931 he exhibited regularly at the Art Association of Montreal and the Royal Canadian Academy, and became a member of the Sculptors' Society of Canada in 1941.
