Abstract |
The Hungarian-born István Anhalt (1919-2012) immigrated to Montreal in 1949 where, for twenty-two years, he taught analysis and composition at McGill University's Faculty of Music. During his tenure at the university he was chairman of the Faculty's Theory Department and developed and directed the McGill University Electronic Music Studio (EMS). In 1971 he accepted the position as head of the music department at Queen's University in Kingston.
