The Feminine Gaze: A Canadian Compendium of Non-Fiction Women Authors and their Books, 1836-1945
|
| Abstract |
Includes bio-bibliographical information on Anglo-Quebec authors during the period studied. The author describes her personal quest to make non-fiction female authors better known. She expected to find just a few dozen such non-fiction authors but unearthed 473 writers who produced over 674 books on topics as varied as Canada and its inhabitants, the story of Canadian transportation, and the legacy of Canadian missionary activity around the world.
