| Abstract |
Rabbi Pinchas Hirschprung (1912-1998) escaped Nazi Europe and arrived in Montreal in 1941. He was a posek (a legal scholar) and a rosh yeshiva (Dean of a yeshiva), as well a Chief Rabbi of Montreal from from 1969 until his death. The author describes his escape from Europe, based on his 1944 memoir of being a refugee that was translated into English in 2018.
