|
Abstract |
A history of Montreal’s Black community and its institutions, from the days of New France to the end of the twentieth century. The author contends that the thirty-year period between 1897 and 1930 saw the development of many of the important institutions of the community, such as the Union United Church in 1907, the Universal Negro Improvement Association in 1919 and the Negro Community Centre in 1927.
