The author outlines the association of such Montreal artists as Fritz Brandtner, Marian Scott, Jori Smith and Louis Muhlstock with Norman Bethune, physician and artist, during the Depression of 1930s. All were actively involved, both socially and artistically, in helping and depicting underprivileged children through art.
