Abstract |
A brief outline of education in Lower Canada/Canada East (Quebec) from 1787 to the 1860s, and of the position of the Protestant minority in the province towards education on the eve of Confederation. The author lists five areas which, in his view, needed rectification for the benefit of Protestant education as part of the Confederation deal. Sir John William Dawson (1820-1899) was Principal of McGill University.
