| Abstract |
An updated and expanded version of a mid-1970s essay on the political evolution of Anglophone Quebecers towards provincial politics leading up to Quebec's first referendum on independence. The author describes the Anglophones as evolving from a population that once considered itself part of the English Canadian majority (and thus with little political attachment to the provincial government), to one that accepts that it is a minority group within a nationalist French Quebec state. He concludes this updated essay with suggestions on how English Quebecers might organize themselves politically in post-referendum Quebec.
