Abstract |
A study of the career of William Leslie Logie, who graduated from McGill College's Faculty of Medicine on May 24, 1833, the first person to graduate from the Faculty. The authors describe the legal dispute between the Medical Board of Examiners for the District of Montreal and McGill University over Logie's right to practice medicine without also sitting the Board's exams. Logie eventually decided to emigrate to the United States, where he practiced medicine. The authors also examine French-English relations in Montreal during the early nineteenth century.
