Abstract
The murder of Robert Corrigan from the isolated parish of Saint-Sylvestre emerged into a national scandal in the mid-1850s. Corrigan, an Irish Protestant convert, was attacked and beaten by a gang of Irish Catholic men who were later acquitted.
