Bringing Children and Books Together: The Montreal Children's Library, 1919-Present
|
| Abstract |
The Montreal Children's Library was founded in 1929 and was the first free children's library in Montreal. The initiator of the Montreal movement for a children’s library was Elizabeth Murray, who persuaded the Montreal Council of Women to fundraise to establish a children's reading section in the Fraser Institute library. The library exists today in three library branches in Montreal, including in the Atwater Library.
