Abstract |
The author outlines her fourteen-year involvement in Point St. Charles' St. Columba House, a United Church of Canada outreach ministry to this impoverished Montreal neighbourhood, and describes working with four other women in the collective writing of "Hope is the Struggle: A Community in Action", a book about the place of women in this community and the factors that encourage victims of poverty to become empowered as agents of change. Aside from the author, the four other women involved in writing Hope is the Struggle are: Melissa Chamberlain, Elizabeth Garbish, Donna Leduc, and Myrna Rose.
